Every life counts.
Our mission is simple and powerful: zero preventable deaths in Australian waters. Every person who comes home safely matters. Your support helps volunteer surf lifesavers protect lives, respond in emergencies, and prevent tragedies before they happen.
What “Every life counts” really means
It means every parent reunited with their child. Every friend pulled from a rip. Every family who gets to keep making memories because someone ran toward the water instead of away from it. Mission Zero exists for the moments that don’t make headlines — the quiet, ordinary lives made extraordinary simply by being saved.
When you give, you become part of the moment someone makes it home.

Why this mission matters
Australia’s coastline is one of the most beautiful — and one of the most dangerous — in the world. Changing conditions, growing beach visitation, and extreme weather mean volunteer surf lifesavers are needed more than ever to prevent accidents and respond when seconds matter.
How your support turns into lifesaving action
Training
Preparing volunteer surf lifesavers with advanced rescue, first aid, and emergency response skills.
Equipment
Keeping rescue boards, IRBs, jet skis, and vehicles rescue-ready.
Prevention
Funding education programs that teach people how to stay safe before they enter the water.
A moment that changed everything
“We acted on instinct. We knew we had to get out there fast to save the people who were drowning.”
At North Mullalloo Beach, three teenagers had just arrived for training when they were alerted to a couple of swimmers in terrifying distress in the ocean, being dragged out beyond the waves in a dangerous rip current. Against intense swells that knocked them off their boards, they rescued the exhausted, near-lifeless swimmers and brought them back to shore safely.
This rescue happened because training, equipment, and volunteers were in place — and that’s only possible because people like you chose to give.

Lives changed because someone gave
Behind every rescue is a supporter who made it possible. Your generosity helps create the moments where fear turns into relief, and panic turns into a second chance.
Your place in Mission Zero
Mission Zero isn’t just a campaign. It’s a community of people who believe that no life is expendable, no rescue is too small, and no moment of courage goes unseen. Every gift, no matter the size, moves us closer to zero preventable deaths.
